- 略歴
江戸前期の狩野派の絵師。幼名は三位。通称は右近・中務卿。号は養朴・古川等。木挽町狩野家の祖、尚信の子。木挽町狩野家二代。父の歿後、叔父探幽にも画を学び、幕府の奥絵師として活躍。のち法印に叙せられた。古画学習に努め、鑑定した古画の控え等が『常信縮図』として残る。正徳3年（1713）歿、78歳。
