江戸後期の画家。京都生。姓は豊臣、初名は公信、のち可為、号は為牛。画を土佐光孚・田中訥言に学び、大和絵の復興につとめた。和歌や書道にも通じた。安政の大獄の際に捕らえられ、翌年釈放後に歿した。安政6年（1859）歿、65歳。
